Just Believe
October 30th, 2008Mark 5:36
Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
Jesus said this because a little girl had died. Right after he said the girl came back to life. There was fear, distress, grief and many more emotions happening at that point and Jesus tells them to set all of that aside and just believe. There are many times in our own lives that we need that wake-up call. Set everything that we are going through aside and just believe. It is a simple concept, but very hard to actually commit to.
Believing in Christ and putting our focus on him can dispell the greatest of anxiety, but it takes training. When our focus is on Christ we allow him to control the situation. His grace, peace and comfort can take us through the toughest of times. We do not neglect the situation, we do not forget where we are, we just have a different view of what it taking place. Even in our deepest moments; when all seems lost; Christ is there telling us, “Don’t be afraid, just believe.”
Lord, remind me to focus on you through every situation. When times are tough, when there does not seem to be a way out or a way forward; help my focus to be on you and to just believe. You have my best interest in mind. You have called me and you are preparing me. Help me to just believe. Amen.
